Notice! on the Walls of the Institute - Bhutan's unique development philosophy of 'Gross National Happiness' (GNH), a policy formulated by the 4th King of Bhutan in the late 1970s, takes ownership of its development strategy in that it should serve the wellbeing of the people. Quality of life is paramount, not the deterioration of it as a result of competetive forces which result in environmental destruction, inequality induced discrimination, and poor health indicators like stress, depression, suicide, and obesity.
